I purchased an "untested" World Soccer Winning Eleven Arcade Game Style / Pro Evolution Soccer The Arcade game and I don't know anything about it; other than it was cheap, and it is based on Konami Python hardware (Playstation 2).

I have not been able to find manuals for any Konami Python based games. I have no idea what the dip switches do.

I don't have any experience with JVS.

I don't want to use this game in a cabinet. I would like to use it with a Super Gun.

I tried powering up via JAMMA and it turns on but there's no video output. I tried using the RGB output ports but, other than a flicker (at power on), I don't see ANY output.

I tried the stereo RCA output and there's no audio either.

The status LED blinks heavy at startup but then just settles into a steady on/off pattern. This is the same with or without the game card.

If anyone can school me, in any way, towards getting this thing running I'd appreciate it.

I have never owned a Python before, but looking at pictures, there's an actual PS2 inside the cage. Have you powered that separately?

@awbacon1 likely has a board. Maybe he has a video on setting one up.

I haven't spent much time with it yet. I saw a DDR manual and it did look like it had a PS2 in it. I peeked in my cage and I didn't see a PS2. I didn't open it up, so maybe it's obscured. The DDR manual made it seem as if there is a retail PS2 inside. That sure would be interesting.

I'll update after I've cracked it open.

The Python 2 has a modified retail PS2 inside it - the Python 1 does not and is just based on the PS2. Make sure not to get them confused!

I've got a manual for Dancing Stage Fusion here (link, mirror 1, mirror 2) which features a Python 1 internally. A couple things of note (apologies if I don't know what I'm talking about - when it comes to CRTs, I don't really lol):
  • The wiring diagram says that video output is 0.7v p-p, which means something to do with it actually being VGA. I think.
  • gamerepair.info says it's designed to output at 15khz only.

Thanks for the reply.

I get a black screen and no audio, so nothing is being produced.

I still haven't opened it up but I will look at the manual you linked before I do.

That is actually wrong. The hardware does support 480p and the soccer game can use it depending on some settings, I believe connect one pin of the JAMMA to gnd makes it do 31Khz....

I was wrong. It's DIP switches 3 and 4 to select controller input type (JVS/Jamma) and 15Khz/31Khz.

Was working with one with the same issues...I reseated the ps video cable in the case and it finally came to life. Rebooted it with jamma and jvs connections and so far all good.

I'm with same situation !
Some Light Red Blue Yellow pass on my screen as a rainbow ;)
have you found a way to make it work , i don't understand so much how to place dip switch , i have a Blast city cabinet with Jamma for controls so ,how to go for using jamma controls ? Does Two palyers work with Jamma !I try to connect with VGA RBG output and same no image.

I never got it working.

That's a "Python 2" not a "Python" on the Python2 a complete retail PS2 is used with the Konami software installed on a SONY special OEM HDD with PS2 specific security and a custom konami made arcade PCB that connects to the PS2 via USB.

Python(1) is using the same type of arcade dedicated PS2 hardware as Namco's System 246 so inside the Python box you will find only the PS2 motherboard with it's heatsink and a custom Konami board that connects to the PS2 board using a iLINK cable not the complete PS2 with the plastic shell.

Never got it working? have you tried to put the dip switches like is shown on my post with the screenshots? That is from the same football game.

JS = Jamma System
JVS = USB style plug with JVS I/O

You can set SW4 to up to get it run at 31Khz and connect a PC monitor to the 9 pin VGA plug to try see if it gives video

there is two video output RGV VGA right ? Could you show me a picture of your dipswitch if want copntrols with Jamma please ,so the video output can go out by Jamma connectors or by one of the two VGA by using switch 4 up ... as there is two VGA it could run on two screen for Battle kit ?

1- unused
2- unused (leave these two up all the time)
3- JVS/JS (UP is JVS down is JS)
4- Resolution (UP is VGA 31Khz down is SD TV 15khz)

I own no python board, the posts I made out of a customer's board that is no longer with me.

sad to don't have all PS2 games with this jamma setup,

switch 1 and 2 is down or up ? it serve nothing right ,no matter positions ?
switch3 down is for Jamma right
switch 4 up give signal to VGA port , there is two mean two screen possible in same times ?

Switch 1 and 2 the service menu default is both up.
JS means Jamma System JVS means Jamma Video System. JS is classic Jamma and JVS is new Jamma with separate I/O with RS485 cable.

Both VGA plugs have same mirrored video. I think the point of that is allow for install a small monitor for people to watch the game play. PS2 can only output one video output at once.

Hey Guys, I just came across this thread the other day amd it reminded me I picked one of these boards up several years ago. I was told previously it was a jamma board simple plug and play.
I tried plugging into a jamma connection no picture or sound appears dead, do I need to supply separate power to the power plugs on the front?

The sad way is that other games PS2 or Rom can"t be launch and using the Jamma conectors for controls unfortunately ,it could open an interesting setup right ?
other things don"t exist any update USB key that could be used for a sooner version of PES ( always under Pythons PS2 console off course )

It does function properly when powered up from Jamma if it isn't faulty.
