What’s the square slot for under the coin entry?
 
I believe it was meant for a credit display. There's another slot for something on the front of the control panel.

The headphone jacks are on the left, so that's not what the cutout on the right is for.

The cutout on the right is rectangular, perfect size for a card reader. I wonder if it was meant to house a reader for these:

The credit counter could show many credits you had left on your card?

Naturally this is just guesswork on my part, but the time period fits.

Just a bump to say I bought a few repro panels from Alberto and there are very high quality repros. Two Egret 2 panels two NNC’s and two Saturn HSS-0136 and even if some took a little bit more time to make I can only say no regrets at all. These are the best around 👌
 
update on my order:
I ordered two panels from alberto months ago and sent payment straight away

now I am left in the dark, I've sent two follow up messages over the last four weeks and they have both been read and ignored

at this stage I believe I've been scammed

not a good feeling at all

Just for info I sent payment for one on Feb 19 and it was shipped on March 31 to Aust. I don’t know if he does it full time or if it’s a hobby - I’m guessing a sideline gig. Were they custom panels or routine reproductions?
 
they were existing reproductions, so nothing new
