New NEO-GEO Aes will be released ?

Did they show any oem games working on the new hardware?
nope, or no CRT play. Im not being funny but this show gives nothing in all honesty but a look at the cases and controllers. Weak so far on the back of a 12 month delay.

Gemu just dropped a video adressing some of the concerns (delay, lag, scanlines, ...).
(In french but there's an english dub)

This is the press release that plaion should have put out... Just communicate FFS. It's completely reasonable.... 30x the projected orders...... Very close to being cancelled!!! Youtube auto translates the video, all interested should watch it.

More information on AES+: tried two new indie games, seeing the carts, game clamshells and inserts, issues that may appear. Video in Spanish.

CRT is forbidden due to explosion/flame risk in this type of event (old hardware), as I know

You know or you're guessing? I'm not a Japanese so no clue how they handle stuff like this but in the rest of the world bringing an CRT wouldn't be an Issue (i "know" someone who was at Gamescom with retro computer stuff and they had multiple CRTs running)

I guess as some explain me. In fact, there’s no Japanese law that specifically bans CRT screens at game events.

So, I cloud perhaps depends of which event and the rules depending on.

It’s mix of product-safety rules, venue fire rules, and practical risk:

- Aging CRTs have a documented fire problem. The flyback transformer often fails after 10–20 years, causing arcing, smoke, or fire. Japanese safety bodies and manufacturers have published warnings about this.

- The Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (電気用品安全法 / PSE law) is the closest statute. Article 27 basically forbids selling electrical appliances without the proper safety mark. That hit the retro-console second-hand market in 2006. Using a CRT at an event is not “selling,” but venues and organizers still treat unmarked/old high-voltage gear as a liability.

- Convention halls (Big Sight, Makuhari, etc.) fall under local fire-prevention ordinances. Those restrict open flame and hazardous items in crowded public spaces, so old CRTs get refused more often than not.

I’m not a lawyer and I don’t claim to have the truth, but if you have any doubts I invite you to do your own research.

About the TGS rules 2026, I can sum-up this :

Exhibitors

The official rules say exhibitors must follow all fire-prevention and safety regulations that apply to the hall. They also mention extra fire / firefighting rules in the booth manual, but they never list CRTs, old TVs, or flyback transformers. What they do regulate is display size and crowd flow: 50–80” screens need a 1 m setback from the aisle, 80”+ need 2 m, and 100”+ need extra paperwork.

Visitors

The prohibited-items list covers long objects, weapons, alcohol, fuel, flammables, etc. No mention of TVs or monitors.

So at TGS the barrier is not a “no CRT” article. It’s the catch-all fire-safety clause + Makuhari/Chiba fire rules + electrical work inspections. That is usually enough for organizers to refuse old high-voltage CRTs.

for me, in France there is no issue about that, if firemen inspections, police inspection and organizer accept this before the event open. Perhaps in Japan the issue is different.

There's some game issues that won't be fixed before launch.... probably a v2 hardware revision, but it sounds like v1 is already in production and will launch with those issues included.

This video was deleted, and given the chance of translation issues, I'd take anything that isn't corroborated elsewhere with a grain of salt. If Terry in Garou or KOF was a completely different color on the floor demo, I feel like someone else would have noticed.

I think someone else noticed, check the video I posted above, towards the end (about 19:55) they say something about a color in Garou (no clue what they saw, since I am not familiar with that game).

That's the same guy/video, I think so it was reuploaded. He also mentions a Mahjong controller not working correctly, but I saw someone else say they tested a mahjong controller and it worked perfectly so IDK about that either.

Furrtek said he's not familiar with any such issues having been reported, and someone linked him to the video and he said he'd take a look.

I edited the post.
