    Thanks chaps. :-)

    Irem M92 conversions?

I know that Irem M92 boards (I specifically have in mind Major Title 2) can be converted to R-Type Leo, but what other conversions can be achieved with this boardset? And are they fully documented with any relevant ROM patches? Thanks.

Fantasy Zone (System 16A) - encryption key for 317-0016 ?

Sorry I should have said - yes, converting (but converting BACK to Fantasy Zone - this is a boardset that had been converted to a Time Scanner some time in the past as it still has the original Sega label for Fantasy Zone). I have a couple of spare FD1089B's and had hoped to use one. Didn't...

Fantasy Zone (System 16A) - encryption key for 317-0016 ?

Using Arcadehacker's file and an Arduino I'd like to re-program an FD1089B module with the key for 317-0016 (I've re-programmed FD1094's before). However, the Arduino file for reprogramming the CPU module doesn't have the key for 317-0016 - does anyone know if this is available so that I could...

    System 16A conversion

I'm looking into converting a System 16A Fantasy Zone into either Alien Syndrome or Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars (this is at the request of somebody else and will be for his own personal use). Looking at the MAME source code I can't see any obvious reason why it can't be done and I also have an...

Testing the infamous CPS-A-01 (CPS1 A-board custom chip)

Excellent news, a replacement for that chip is badly needed.

Convert Konami GT to Nemesis - straight EPROM swap?

I believe it's possible to convert Konami GT to Nemesis but is it a straight EPROM swap? I guess some sockets may need replacing? Is a modded set of Nemesis binaries required or will any set work?

    InfiniKey-CPS1

That's also a lot quicker and easier than using the Arduino method - the latter works very well but it's of course a lot easier to plug in a board and unplug it rather than going through the process of the Arduino desuicide method with the Arduino itself and a number of wires.

PGM repair - a few questions

Yeah. I couldn't see any tracks to/from the QFP so assumed it was nothing (unless it's a multi-layer board which it doesn't appear to be). Thanks for the other info, I noticed the voltage regulator on each of the cart's PCBs. The DDP DOJ bootleg supported by MAME is I assume this one...

PGM repair - a few questions

Thanks. Yeah, carts opened up, they are conversions. This type: http://www.gc8tech.com/uncategorized/igs-pgm-ketsui-conversion-pcbs/ however, neither has the QFP 120-pin SMD chip in place, presumably they are using code that doesn't need it? At the moment I'd just like to verify that the...

PGM repair - a few questions

I've never repaired a PGM motherboard before (have repaired plenty of other board types though), now I have one with three carts in an unknown state. Without a cart inserted the board produces a jingle, displays the PGM logo and enters the test menu. I have three carts to test, all purchased...

Testing the infamous CPS-A-01 (CPS1 A-board custom chip)

But who would pay such a price? The only boards which use them are CPS1 and CPS2 to the best of my knowledge and I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay such an extortionate price for just one part; people will just buy another CPS1 or CPS2 A board instead. But of course the seller presumably...

Testing the infamous CPS-A-01 (CPS1 A-board custom chip)

Way too expensive though and good luck finding a suitable QFP160 socket. Also, the specs on the page are wrong - the page states that it's a QFP100 - it's not, it's a QFP160.

Testing the infamous CPS-A-01 (CPS1 A-board custom chip)

Quite. What a stupid price, how do they expect to sell any like that? Not sure if it's down to greed or stupidity.

Testing the infamous CPS-A-01 (CPS1 A-board custom chip)

It's a pity that it's so expensive to make a modern reproduction of the CPS-A-01 - more and more A boards are being consigned to the parts bin because of A-01 failures. I think that all of those NOS A-01 chips dried up, or am I thinking of the CPS-B-21 chips (which were listed as DL-0921)?

Testing the infamous CPS-A-01 (CPS1 A-board custom chip)

It's extremely variable - I've seen everything from a black screen to the image shrunk and multiplied on the display (therefore four small images of the game, one in each corner). Also remember that other faults can also cause display problems, invariably one of the RAMs or their support chips...

Testing the infamous CPS-A-01 (CPS1 A-board custom chip)

If somebody was to create a reproduction of the CPS-A-01 they would get a lot of thanks from CPS1 owners and, as a bonus, possibly make a nice profit; there are a lot of CPS1 A boards out there with a faulty CPS-A-01, all waiting for the day when they can be resurrected (I have about a dozen...

Don Pachi - a question about the custom chips

I'm currently working on a Don Pachi board which appears to have a faulty custom chip, specifically the one marked as: 038 (there are three like this on the board). Does anyone know if Do Don Pachi uses the same custom, or any other Cave/Atlus boards for that matter? Perhaps I could find a...
