    Gauntlet blank screen problem

I did say the sockets were rubbish, although handy for when you want to replace them ;). You may have been lucky not to have completely removed the socket from the pins as I found it nigh on impossible to get them to sit back over the pins properly when completely removed from the board. If...

    Gauntlet blank screen problem

Have you reseated every socketed chip as these Gauntlet boards have the crappy single wipe sockets and the pins in them suffer from age related metal fatigue and end up breaking. I had a Gauntlet board which was perfectly fine when put away for storage and a year later I plugged it in prior to...

New MVS and AES Multi menu released

Thanks for this Darksoft. Can you confirm what the name of the folder should be in the 'games' folder?. So far I have just extracted the original zip so the folder is called XenoCrisis_NG_DarksoftMulti_v1_0_0 then I next tried 'XenoCrisis' and also tried 'Xeno Crisis'. The Menu has been...

Up n' Down board conversion to Flicky

Yet another update I converted a Wonderboy board to Flicky but seeing as Wonderboy and Flicky are both my favourite games I wanted to be able to play both but only had one Sega PIO board. I noticed that IC locations 110...05 & 96 are not used by Flicky but are only ever used by Wonderboy. As...

Up n' Down board conversion to Flicky

Just an update on this I managed to get Flicky fully working on the Sega PIO board using roms from FLICKY.zip set then used the 2 from the non encrypted set. The problem with the F L I C K Y sprites was due to the 110 rom required to be placed in Ic04 location on the board and not ic110 as per...

DARKSOFT New Namco System 1 Multi

He is referring to the special sub boards that are used for the Namco system 1 games that require special controls like the spinners used for Quester, an Arkanoid type game and Face Off (Ice hockey). The sub board allows spinners, paddles to be connected to the board as they only had Jamma edge...

PacMania - music, but no sounds

Where did you buy that YM2151 chip from the '2151' digits are wonky in comparison and font is washed out suggesting it is a fake so apart from the track issues you're experiencing now this was still part of of your original sound issues **EDIT** Just found this page about the subject different...

Up n' Down board conversion to Flicky

No pressure with sorting the board out I know other things outside of arcade related stuff can take priority :) Noticed there is a Flicky conversion using the 315-5093 chip off of Pitfall II. Looks to have 2 Sega sub boards on it though according to the snapshot of the board...

Up n' Down board conversion to Flicky

Well made some progress you were correct about which type of board to use, it must be the PIO version of the board to run the non-encrypted set. In game graphics works fine but I have an issue with the title screen, the balloons carried by the birds which eventually spell the word 'FLICKY'...

Up n' Down board conversion to Flicky

Didn't realise it was for PIO board. I have a converted Wonderboy board here using the PIO chip so you think this would be possible to convert this board to Flicky and convert the Up n' Down board to Wonderboy? Below is a pic of my Wonderboy board. It uses a patched version of the unencrypted...

Up n' Down board conversion to Flicky

Are these the Sega protection chips you are referring to? **EDIT** I think the black resin are for System 16 games/Space harrier and the green one was extra protection for System 16 boards. The 8751 MCU not shown was for Sega Space Harrier & Enduro Racer (character control lockout) I thought...

Up n' Down board conversion to Flicky

Looking again it does look like it is an original chip, the pins were so dirty on the chip in that pic it just looked like a normal Z80 with a faded chip id. My Sega chip is a lot cleaner so the gold pins are clearly visible to see. I thought about trying to craft some roms from the unencrypted...
