Conversion of single layer Taito Cup Finals PCB to something else?

To my recollection, all ROMs have max 4x program code ICs and max 2x audio code ICs (including Package System ROMs), I think the trickiest bit might be the graphics and sound data ICs, which the package system I believe had more slots for in the cartridge. I think theoretically it should work...

    Darius Gaiden Extra Cartridge?

Fascinating! Wow, if anyone has more details I would love to know more! Thanks for letting me know this, I had no idea! :)

    Darius Gaiden Extra Cartridge?

Hey Everyone, Wondering if anyone actually has a Darius Gaiden Extra cartridge. Was it just a version bump, or was is a new product? Does the cartridge actually say "Extra Version" on it anywhere (e.g. do you have to plug the cartridge in to see if it's the extra version or not?) Is the part...

    The Taito F3 Sync

Well, the actual board output still needs to be encoded into a proper 480i signal. the voltages levels aren't right, and the sync pulse is on its own channel (though, I suppose you could use some format which leaves the sync pulse on its own wire). So it is not exactly right to say it "outputs...

    The Taito F3 Sync

Alright Everyone, I've been annoyed long enough at the Taito F3's sync. Today, I spent a great majority of my time prodding at the Taito F3's video output with a oscilloscope. I wanted to share what I learned and see what y'all think about how we should recommend folks handle their sync issues...

Conversion of single layer Taito Cup Finals PCB to something else?

This is awesome, thanks for sharing! :) I would wait on sound assessments though. Sound code probably pulls from other ROMs for sound data, so probably sound could be working, but the data is all messed up (as would make sense in this scenario). Please keep us posted! (And thanks for the pics)

Conversion of single layer Taito Cup Finals PCB to something else?

Ah, sorry - Top Ranking Stars is another name for Prime Time Fighter - I did not list alternate names. Allow me to edit the post. Anyhow - thanks for the tip! I'm doing continuity checks on different parts of the hardware this month. I just finished identifying where the ROM CART pins go on the...

Conversion of single layer Taito Cup Finals PCB to something else?

Okay, sorry - I forgot to respond to this yesterday with more details. F3 HARDWARE From what I'm aware, there are 3 different Taito F3 boards - with 2 possible expansions for one variant board (I'm not counting sub-boards as variants - but if the mainboard itself is different these may be...

Conversion of single layer Taito Cup Finals PCB to something else?

Believe it or not, there is a variant of Ray Force on the single-board White IC PCB. I don't know if the componentry changed at all, because I don't own a copy (I have Orange board with subboard). I have a listing of all single-board White variant PCBs at home for the Taito F3, I can post it...

Sync on Taito F3 - headache that needs solving

Yeah, converting the already bad component signal to composite or S-video never worked for me. All that worked was the actual signal from the encoder chip for S-video or composite (not component, as mentioned). I wonder if whether or not it work depends which RGB Encoder their SuperGun uses. I...

Sync on Taito F3 - headache that needs solving

To be clear, I mean that the PCB goes to SuperGun, and in the SuperGun should be componentry to producting the Component output. With some Encoders, they support other output types (S-video, Composite). I mean from the RGB Encoder, if it supports another output, try that. Because my encoder...

Sync on Taito F3 - headache that needs solving

I have a similar issue where the sync pulses confuse my Framemeister, so I bought an OSSC and the problem persists. Basically, for me, component doesn't sync at all. I looked using an oscilloscope, and the sync pulses look nonstandard (compared to Wii component, and documentation in the book...

F3 Artset / instructions card / flyers / manuals, central scan topic

Thanks rtw! :) Incidentally, that's the same scanner I was considering getting! Sounds like a plan, I'll grab one next month sometime. I'll make a new thread when the repo is available.

F3 Artset / instructions card / flyers / manuals, central scan topic

I have quite a bit myself, but I need to buy a good scanner first, is there any one you'd recommend for the best quality/resolution/colour? I think first step is to collect raw scans of the same/similar quality, and just put them someplace accessible. I'm thinking to create a git repo for this...

Listing of Original MSRP for Taito F3 Games?

Hey Everyone, While trying to put together a history of Taito F3 games, I'd like to have information such as the original MSRP of Taito parts (ROM carts, boards, peripherals, etc.) Does anyone either have this information or know where I might be able to find it? Thanks - Dariux

F3 Artset / instructions card / flyers / manuals, central scan topic

Hmm, some of these appear to be 404ing, and definitely I know some promotional material is missing. Is this the entirety of what the community has? I'm trying to put together a "History of the F3" page, and would like to include as much as possible. If anyone has scans or pictures to...

DARKSOFT Taito F3. Instructions and videos.

Hey All, newbie here - is it basically "watch highscoresaves and saveyourgames to grab a board"? Or is there anything else I need to do to be ready for this. I'd hate to miss out on this board again.

    Hello Everyone!

Hi There! My name (alias) is Dariux. I'm a software engineer by trade, but a hobbiest with an interest in hardware engineering. Recently, I've been getting into collecting Taito F3 history, and I noticed there is some conversation, trading, and history worth collecting, documenting, and...
