It's not optional. The amp expects 17V AC.

The amplifier has been retrofitted. It's actually originally from a Net City. MVS outputs amplified signals, so you don't necessarily need it. The audio quality might be a bit better with the separate amp though.

It only happens with CVS2, no other Naomi game. It's not a power issue.

Your FPGA is fine. Don't swap that. Actually, checking the image posted by Phil, the color gradients would be off if UB4 or UC4 are faulty. Also, I assume your colors are equally dim? More than likely your issue lies elsewhere, unfortunately. The schematics are in the manual...

5V is a bit low, but it should boot. 12V doesn't matter. Ideally you would have an arcade PSU that you could manually adjust the voltages with. Try replacing the fans.

One way would be to compare voltage readings before and after the amp.

All of the translucent bezels I have seen have been in the US (possibly imported from some other region?). The European cab was cost cut and the bezel is just the normal white one that has been painted over black. EDIT: here is one, from six years ago...

Naomi won't boot if the fans on top of the processors aren't spinning. It's a safeguard.
