Hey all been creeping through the threads here while I troubleshoot a problem but wanted to ask for advice. I'm fairly new to arcade hardware so if I post anything that seems incorrect feel free to correct me.

I recently bought a 246 off ebay as my first arcade system w/ SC2+dongles. I also bought a cbox v2 jamma harness with the hope of getting it running as a supergun with my home crt(Svideo/composite) or an lcd screen(vga). I also bought a 200w power supply from twisted quarter and superjamma harness.

I've attempted to run the 246vga into the jamma b board connected to the cbox to output s-video (also tested composite) to the crt. At 15khz this gave me an image on screen that held however multiple horizontal black bars would flicker in both signals making it unplayable. (Strangely the issues seemed to get worse or better depending on how much movement was occurring in game) I attempted to bypass the jamma board and cbox by running the vga from the 246 into an svideo convertor @31khz but no luck there either.

I also attempted to run the 246vga straight into my LCD screen at 31khz however this would lead to the image completely dropping in and out. I also attempted to use a gbs8200 but this didnt improve the signal either.

Im unaware of the state of the hardware when I first bought it other than seller told me the sc2 disc and dongle included worked. When I first started wiring and testing I wasnt aware of how the 5v adjustment was supposed to work and I may have fed too much power to the 246 (around 5.14-5.2v based on the cbox) and based on other posts I've seen it looks like over/underpowering the hardware can cause components related to video to burn out on the 246b motherboard.

On 31khz the main test menu didnt seem to have any problems but when I select display menu I lose any image until I exit.

Audio seems fine. I get 5 bells on startup and no apparent gameplay issues beyond not being able to see so I'm thinking the disc drive isnt the issue.

What format does the ps2 av port inside the unit spit out? I tried to bypass the front vga output with composite rca, svideo, and a component cable with hdmi adaptor from the av port. Got audio bells on startup but no video on my crt.

Does anyone know what's the 5v power threshold before components usually fail? And are there common components to look for? Can I cannibalize a fat ps2 for parts or am I better off looking for a replacement board online?

Really hoping I didnt just fry my 246 immediately after setting it up and have been chasing my own tail this whole time but at this point I think I've been able to eliminate factors back to the unit itself just cant figure out where. If anyone has any advice I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've also attached photos showing the video issues on my crt and the gbs8200 into the lcd screen

I recently came across a similar issues with my 246 Rev-B.
On mine there's an A/V cable that goes from the PS2 side to the Namco motherboard, looking closely it appears that some of the pins in the cable end may be bent and making a bad connection. I'm going to attempt to bend them back and see if it improves.
The cable has the PS2 A/V connector on both ends, so I don't think it's easily replaced sadly.
