Hi guys, I find myself recapping a Hong Eun MP-29A chassis, chosen the caps myself, everything is going smooth so far, but I have this curious size difference between the old and new only BP capacitor.
Even that they have the same voltage rating and capacitance, the old one is much larger than the new, I know today's capacitors can be smaller because of chemistry improvements, etc., but I find it too different this time lol, also the old one has much lower ESR:
  • Samwha: esr 0.083 ohm, width 16mm, height 25mm
  • Panasonic: esr 1.23 ohm, width 5mm, height 11mm
What would you do?

A. Keep the old one
B. Install the new one
C. Find a new one with less ESR / Larger size - difficult, old stock only I believe
D. Install a 3.3uF 50v Film capacitor - shouldn't it be the same?

Thanks!

That BP 3.3uF cap can not be replaced by the 2nd one - the monitor will blow it very quickly after first power on. Here's the correct replacement with explanation on what it is and why the original one is so big:

I think this might be the last supply of these caps. I've never found an equivalent replacement. These are no longer made for many years.
