I started this journey with picking up a Sega blast city cab that came with the wrong sized service door. The only option for replacement was importing one from a seller that has a really bad track record. Not wanting to waste my time and money I decided to design a basic door, that through trial and error, fits securely and close enough. My main focus on doing this was to prevent my 3 year old son and dogs from climbing inside.

Listed below is the link to thingiverse that has the top and bottom door .stl files. I hope this helps folks out in the candy cab community.

Oh I didn't know you can fuse together plastic material together with iron. I'm not that knowledgable about this.

No worries, you use the soldering iron tip to touch both pieces of plastic. This causes them to melt together and create a strong bond.

The guy made bevel surface on the join surface of both plastics then filled the surface with the filament of same material.

That's actually pretty smart, I just line them up and clamp them together so both printed items are making contact and I go down with the soldering iron. I melt the back of the door a bit more to get a stronger bond and also no one will likely see it.

For the one that I have painted:
  1. I sanded the surface to make sure there was no raised edges from the melting process.
  2. Filled the trench and surrounding area with bondo
  3. Sand again
  4. prime with auto primer
  5. Sand again
  6. Another coat of primer
  7. Light sand
  8. Paint
