Analog Flightstick HOTAS panel : Star Wars edition

I have a set of those too. The bottom part is very long, it will not fit a normal control panel dept unless you cut something. They are very nice sticks though.

@Fredo I'm the guy who bugs you about the Gundam controllers on Twitter/X.

Have you or @nnap considered what kind of artwork you want to create for a panel overlay? Alberto said he can make a custom panel, but I don't know if there have been talks about artwork.
 
I did an artwork for a friend who wants it for battle pod and @alberto1225 also did a custom star wars inspired design.
Here is mine:

I worked on a CPO with a 80's Jet Fighter cockpit vibe, inspired by some cabinets like Wing War, Sky Target, After Burner Climax etc.

I was never really happy with it, and in the end Adobe politely asked me to purchase a licence if I wanted to keep using Photoshop, which I never bothered to, preferring to focus on other projects. So for now my panel remains all black.

Interesting. Is SW Battle Pod playable on 480p cabinets? Or is it for a compatible HD cab ? 🤔
 
normally on Yahoo Auctions or JDirectItems as it is called now. You will need a proxy service to buy from there. They show up from time to time as Gundam sticks or similar.
 
They seem to be considerably harder to find today than they were a few years ago, when all the Monkey Ball panel trend started.

I guess they are running low on Gundam cabinets to scrap. Good thing I bought an extra pair.

These are the panels. I really like Albertos design. I also did a thing to raise the Gundam Stick to proper height. Will take some pictures later.

Love both of these panels. Can't wait to see what you did with the Gundam stick to make it more ergonomic.
 
Man that piece is so cool!

I once had a project for a similar part that would make the handle slightly angled forward, like on the serial Sanwa JLK-GF2 , but it never went beyond conceptual drawings due to my insufficient experience in 3D modeling, but maybe that is something you can do!

I remember taking measures from the schematics on my monitor to get the angle right 😆

Also, another thing these joysticks would benefit would be some sort of lateral wrist rest like on the After Burner Climax joystick. Maybe a 3D printed part could somehow be added to the design ?
