I know these were everywhere like 7-8 years ago for fairly cheap ($50 USD for most of them).

Anyone know where they came from why they honestly stopped being so available? I'd pick up a few more if I could.

When I asked awhile ago, they said it was one run from one company and they have been out for years.

I was able to find a MSlug 6 for pretty cheap, but never Dolphin Blue, so I bought that legit.

This is correct

How can you spot a bootleg?
They all have the same serial number, some have square labels instead of round corners, and the carts that usually have a hologram sticker, do not

Reminds me, I saved photos of all the bootleg carts when they used to be for sale.

Samurai showdown VI was the only problematic bootleg because it had glitches or something like that.. I have an original but it was not cheap.

This is true. The background was missing/glitching on the White house stage. In the past we had investigated to solve why this happened; it was strange as the data was correct on the cart but failed during game play.

Photo of SS6 boot leg pcb if anyone is curious:

If you find any Atomiswave cartridge with these 70 pin flash chips, it is a boot leg.

There are only two types of cart pcbs for the bootlegs, here is the other:

Id love another rf2 cart and hokuto no Ken for tournies, are they all gone? Anyone got any?

I have ken I think it is bootleg and a few others that I will be putting for sale and a boat load of Naomi carts that will go for sale as well..

That’s the first RF2 bootleg I’ve seen, thanks for sharing :)
Same yeah. I actually bought a RF2 cart from a reseller in HK that sold the bootleg carts and naturally expected to receive a bootleg one. Surprise surprise, it was legit. Paid a bootleg price for it too.

How can you spot a bootleg?
Several things like square corners vs rounded, but also the serial number.
Most bootlegs have the same numbers.

There is a full list/table on the Arcade Otaku Wiki I recall
