In my opinion, absolutely not. A 8 digit serial number game plays just as good as a 2 digit serial as long as it's the same revision.

A later serial number might even be more desirable because they might have ironed out any manufacturing issues and it’s possible the board may live a longer life being perhaps issued later in the production cycle, maybe used less?

I don't know, but people collect stuff for all different reasons.

For myself, the lower numbers might be cooler to snag b/c maybe it's an earlier revision that is undumped and I can add it to the online database. But, having said that, I guess the same could be said for a very high serial number.

No idea, its just something a lot of people pointed out.
