Hi all,

I've got an Mv1b and an all-in-one cart as well as a unibios chip. The all in one works great but if I want to reach the game selection menu after playing a game, I need to power cycle the whole unit. Not ideal. So i want to install the unibios chip onto the MV1B so I can access the menu at any time.

Now, as someone who isn't experienced in soldering, what is my best choice for replacing the bios chip on my MV1b? As I understand it, I either need to solder 40 wires, find a NEO BIOS MASTA, or just try to locate a MV1A board. Are there any other options?

Is installing a unibios chip into an MV1B difficult or just tedious? I'm down to learn but I dont want to damage anything and I dont have the equipment for it yet.

Thanks in advance.

Has probably been a decade since i installed the Bios on my MVS but if you are uncertain go for a NeoBiosMasta. Totally doable for someone with normal Hobby soldering skills (i believe its just lifting two leg and soldering two wires) and if i had to do another one would probably just get another BiosMasta

I installed a NeoBiosMasta VMC on my MV1B. Lift two legs on the original BIOS to disable it and add a couple of wires, which I don't remember doing, but internet wisdom suggests there are a couple of wires to install, so I must have done them. That also gave me a memory card.

Just add a bit of extra solder to the legs prior to lifting them so you know the heat is transferring nicely and you're less likely lift a pad. Use some fine tweezers or a dental pick, etc. to lift the leg, using a neighboring leg as leverage. Just don't try too hard, the leg will bend up easily if the solder is molten.
