What's new

Better molded than printed - what sort of plastic parts are we missing in this hobby?

The GK3 Ultra is an option too.

I really like my GKTwo, though I'm hearing the GKThree (non ultra) aren't quite baked.
Wowwwwww, 16k resolution. I know where I'm going when I upgrade.

Are you forced into using those little resin bottles, or are you able to fill with whatever you'd like? That's one thing I wasn't keen on with the FormLabs printers.

100% open, no nonsense.
Beautiful. Absolutely know where I'm going when I upgrade the Saturn.

That gent you sent me ramp info for is inspiring. I'm *very* excited for what this year holds projects-wise.

Awesome, glad to hear it's helpful.

I'm trying to get my project focus for 2025 in gear myself, pretty sure creative energy is what's going to get me through the year sane. Looking forward to seeing what you share!

His 8 years ago re-build of his vacuum table (unfortunately only a frame picture) has me thinking about dismantling the machine I'm going to see beginning of next week, and re-framing it.

This one is horizontal, and slides over and then presses down, rather than full vertical. I think I could cut it down to a much more reasonable footprint (Maybe 33x52 or something) by raising the heater overhead like more traditional looking vacuum machines. It'd just put off starting longer, is all. Either way, having all of the electronics and the pump is very worthwhile on its own. I could also reuse a large chunk of the steel to make it.

Oh, another suggestion that popped into my head-
The gears for terminator 2 guns.
Idk if anyone else has repro'd one but last time I worked on a machine it was a nightmare problem

The gears for terminator 2 guns.
I believe someone brought up revx here or on KLOV and said they're the same guns internally. I'll have to look up a pic and get measurements!

That is correct, the guns are the same internally between the two
I just looked up a pic with dimensions and entirely doable. I'm not sure what originals are made out of.

Both this guy and the pinion gear:

Can’t believe no-one has already suggested…

NeoGeo AES console shell :-)

Huge and impractical. Maybe not, but I can dream

I would really like to see a case for the jamma converter board used on Konami Hornet games (Gradius IV).

Similarly, a stabilizing case for the CPS1 multi jamma finger would be great as it tends to want to slide out and it shifts quite a bit under the weight of the harness if flat.

Do you have a loose Hornet or something? These come in a case already, and the filter board and jamma edge are bolted to the case.

I'd have to see a pic of what you mean on the CPS1 multi. I don't have one, and the quick pics I found in the thread didn't really answer my questions any.

A moulded plastic case for the CPS1 multi in general would be awesome
With the look of the CPS1 plastic cases from the early games! Might look weird because it'd be so tall! I don't have a CPS1 multi to look at, but it'd just be effectively the same thing but taller, that'd be way doable.

You could just reproduce the 1.5 case and it will fit right in

A larger fan mount would be a nice change to the original

The originals were plastic, but what type idk.
Three problematic great was always the pinion gear, tho in sure there's need for the fan as well

I'll endeavor to get hold of a pinion gear then. That other one can still be bought brand new fairly cheap.

For the Hornet, I am referring to the jamma adapter pcb that is pictured on the top of the case. It would be nice if there was a simple enclosure for it to help protect it as it is easy to bump when inside a machine.

For the CPS1 multi, I'm referring to the same jamma insert (that one is just a pass through with no components). This one tends to come out with the harness when you unplug, so would be cool if it could be braced using the blue jamma connector holes on the left and right of the female end.

Snagged a pinion gear, the other one is still available to purchase in quite a few places.

So I've got a few pans in the fire now!
