FS BlueSCSI shaped for CPS3

Hi !

I’ve adapted Eric Helgeson’s BlueSCSI board to snap directly onto the back of a CPS3 mainboard - no ribbon cable needed.
This fully replaces the original CD-ROM reader and can be used to flash games, boot games, etc., just like the original drive. The SD card stores the ISO images, and there is no complex configuration.



I made a bunch of them, they are tested with a CPS3 Darksoft cart and the SD card is setup and included: it's plug'n'play.

- Canada is 35€




Why this mod ?

• Cleaner install: custom shape matches the CPS3 PCB, so it clips right on.
• Better reliability: eliminates loose cables.
• BlueSCSI firmware compatible: microSD-based “drives” and firmware updates via USB-C.
• No need for jumper configuration, its preconfigured for CPS3.
• Slim enough to go within plexi/metal cases, it's lower than the SIMMS memories.
• It's available ! BlueSCSI are quite complicated to get at a reasonable price, at least in Europe.

Yes, but it's kind of expensive (and you'll be taxed ...).
It's like 35€ for 1 to 10 boards.

Seems unllikely that it would, given that the SCSI & Molex connectors sit all the way flush with the outer edge of the case. There's no way to mount anything connected there inside.

Someone share me a picture and I confirm this won't fit.
Maybe I'll create a special version for it, who knows.

I don't have access to mine and I can't find a photo, but the design of the factory case is the exact opposite of the Jasen case. Jasen's case is designed for use with an ODE to be mounted inside the case and leaves a tiny bit of space between the PCB edge and the inside of the case, while the factory case expects you to use an external drive. The connectors on the factory case are flush with the outer edge of the case, there is no way to use this internally. I imagine external might be dodgy as well since it will probably short to the case unless you use something to isolate the BlueSCSI board.

You're right. It works great with Jasen's. It doesn't work with capcom box.

I'll build a version for those box later

I can confirm this device works/fits well within the Jasen CPS3 case.
