Looking at adding a toggle switch to change from SCSI to NET boot modes without having to take apart the netdim. Thought I'd check if anyone has done such a thing and what parts they used before I go too far down the rabbit hole myself. Thinking it just needs a 3PDT switch, but the size/model and wiring will take a bit of figuring out.

Hey Kujako!

The easiest way I have done this is by using a regular dipswitch with 3 switches. Each switch then represents one jumper that you would usually have to move manually. Wiring is also very easy, you can use regular Arduino Jumper Cables for this (the female version). In my case, I simply cut out a piece of the metal cover and glued in the switch from the bottom using hot glue. Works like a charm and looks nice (if you use a black dipswitch albeit) -

Good Luck!

Honestly I wouldn't be too worried about the size and model even the smallest of switches will be ok, not like there is going to be any significant current flow through it, the switch is just for control logic.

Something like this

just google 3PDT sliding switch and see what takes your fancy.

Max's solution would also work fine but it's arguable that the dip switches are unnecessary as there is only two configurations used on those pins.

That's smaller than what I have in my parts bin, so may go that route. What I have is some chunky 4PDT marine switches. Still an option, would be easier to install if nothing else.

After reviewing the options, I think I'm going with an ALCO MTA306D 3PDT, shown here (greenish one on the right) next to the afore mentioned 50209LX from Digikey. It's smaller, better constructed and will require only a single drill hole to mount.
