I got this (I assume) bootleg Power Instinct PCB. It has a funky dongle attached to the power section on the JAMMA edge. Any idea what it's for? It appears to have been hot glued in place on top of a chip, but has come loose.

Also, it's not booting correctly. It loads up to a garbled mess of sprites and that mess changes every 2-3 seconds. I noticed that no mater how I adjust my PSU, the power at the edge connector always reads ~4.6V. Is that indicating a short somewhere near by? Or just a component... somewhere... not functioning properly?

It appears to be taking GND/+5 and maybe feeding back -5 and +12? I'm not sure but it's also tapping back into U3 74LS07? (a buffer?)
Other than this, i have no clue what it could be doing, Take some pics and desolder it, see what happens. With the pics you can alway solder it back in.

The PCB is actualy legit, but 2 of the mask roms have been replaced by eproms

What makes you say so? My main evidence for bootleg is the pair of dip switch banks. The original owners manual shows the topology of the components and this board is wildly different.

Hmm, seems reasonable. It appears to take 5v, 12v and the coin counter signal, and be connectedto the main ground. Very odd.

You are right. I used to own this board and went back to my "archive" to look at the pictures and it is indeed very different.

Maybe i was fooled at first glance by the silk screen on the pcb, which i guess is not very common on bootlegs :D

Could this be like a Korean variant or something? I'm not that familiar with this game...

That's also what got me to take it in the first place. Seemed legit. Isn't.

Does have an awfull lot of Goldstar (LG) and Hyundai on board, so i'm on the fence if its Korean or Boot..

Power Instinct is a bitch regarding legit or bootleg:

Yeah, it's clearly a bootleg. That part is settled. How do I fix it is the real question.
