Buyee Japan not shipping semi conductors

Welp. There goes Zenmarket

Ah perfect thank you.
Did that Service work out for you? I'm headed to Japan in November and would happily scoop it up then. I got hit with something similar with some X68K ram boards. I tried arguing with the clowns and Buyee. My profession is freight forwarding and I'm very familiar METI restrictions because I specialize in those type of goods between the US and JP. I got the polite, "We're too incompetent/lazy, to realize you've done our job for us". I also have a friend who lives there but I didn't want to burden him with it if I didn't have too. which is my backup right now.

Thanks mate,

I ended up using a local guy on a website called "Fiverr" he was actually pretty good, postage was a bit expensive though, but i got my triforce and was well packaged. He sent me pics before he shipped it too.

If there is a need we can spot space on our containers for shipping goods to the USA just note that theres a longer lead time for ocean arrivals compared to air mail. HOWEVER we can also do proxy forwarding services (depending) Aka buyee ships to our people in japan and then we fufill shipping with fedex or ems. The cost is higher than direct shipping though so ideally wanna use someone like zen market

While I never encountered this particular issue with buyee I have had a pretty crappy experience with them in the past. I've been quite happy using JapanRabbit for a while now and would recommend them highly.

Years ago when Shopping Mall Japan went under I placed an order with every proxy service I could find to try them out. both From Japan and DeJapan were the front runners for me because they had the best packing, Buyee was the worst option in that regard and it seems they've even got worse.
I posted my results of this exersize here: https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/shopping-mall-japan-shutting-down.11677/page-3#post-211085

Based on the sheer fact that they're the official partner of Yahoo Auctions means they're probably going to have the worst quality of service. As the official partner they have a lower incentive to offer a competitive service and the volume they have to support means they're likely going to cut corners to provide quantity over quality. That's fine for some things but I'm not trusting that to rare and expensive arcade parts.

FWIW I've been using DeJapan for years now as my proxy service and have nothing but good experiences with them.

I think it's an isolated misinterpretation of Japanese export compliance. they're treating bare consumer components as raw goods/capital equipment when METI clearly outlines that goods in assembled capacity are exempt unless they fall under a specific application or high performance use case. I'll take a look at JapanRabbit though.

A buddy of mine mentioned From Japan. I wasn't sure of it but I'll definitely give it a looks and I'll also check out DeJapan.

Personally, I've used FromJapan exclusively after Shopping Mall Japan folded. Never had any issues. Someone was saying they don't double box, but they always have for me. YMMV.

This said, I never ship valuable cardboard with anything that's heavy. I always separate everything to fragile and delicate, and care-free shipments. Most of the time I ship by sea, since it's comically cheap.

They often offer 10% discount coupons (at least once per month), which is wild. If it's an expensive item, 10% can cover all the other fees combined (domestic shipping, handling fee, international shipping). It's almost as if they're paying me to use their services.

Just came across this post. Buyee refused to ship my stuff as well (similar message from them like the OP's) because it is a circuit board (don't know if this counts as semiconductor (substrate)). I thought it was because the item had a battery. And honestly, I thought it was normal that they put the items in one box without extra wrapping.
I usually do not buy via that site anymore, because in the past, I could not bit on some items - I could however bid via DeJapan.

It could be a CYA for something they got busted on or straight laziness. Like I said in my post earlier. what they're referencing is for raw materials, capital equipment or the off hand that someone has gotten ahold of high performance components used in restricted applications. Things like Military goods, AI or other regulated industries. Not assembled consumer products and definitely not retro hardware/maker items.

Seems I'm the latest victim of this. Been hunting for a SuperH developer board, and one recently popped up on Mercari. Its my first time doing this, and Mercari has all these "Use our official partner, Buyee!" pop-ups.

Buyee orders it, takes pictures, add protective packaging, charges me for the intl shipping, and then I get an email:
This is Semiconductor Substrate. We cannot ship this. Also, due to our contract with Mercari we cannot redirect this to a Japanese address.

Has anyone had any success navigating this with Buyee?
I'm not even sure they'll return it to the original seller, at this point I'll do anything to prevent it from being destroyed.

I used a buddy of mine who lives over there. while I was waiting to see if he could do it, I looked up Fiverr and they have a couple folks on there that will do it for you.

The issue is that they wont ship Mercari stuff to jp addresses either.

For yaj you can redirect to jp like blackship.

But yeah. Basically, you should not use buyee any more. Fuck em.

Seems like way more effort than just having buyee ship to blackship which gives a jp address.

That said, wont work for mercari stuff, but neither does anything else really i guess?!?

Use any other proxy.

This is a shame though cause buyee is cheaper and easier to use than zenmarket, and doesnt require pretransferring funds, but not shipping pcbs is just completely unacceptable.
