X68000 is a wonderful machine so it deserves all our attention and care :)
I have another little project coming for X68000, an adapter to properly use the HxC emulator with these machines.Here's a picture of the first prototypes (one to plug into the external FDD connector of Pro, Ace,Expert, Super, XVI models, the other for internal Compact FDD connector)



First testings were good but I need to through most of software library to validate the devices.
 
yes please! My super needs this in case the drives fail!!

waaaahhhh getting a couple for sure :)
 
I forgot.At some point I could need some vounteers with a X68000 Compact, my machine has some probem that prevents me to test the internal adapter.For this purpose I've been also able to get spare FFC cables for Compact interna FDDs (picture attached).

If your X68030 is the Compact model then it has 3.5" internal FDDs and uses the same FFC connector of the X68000 Compact.But probaby your X68030 is the tower version (CZ-500).
 
Yeah, I have the tower version, so it doesn’t sound like I would be a good tester for you. Sorry about that.

@caius I have a Legionnaire board that has very very low sound. All sound seems to work (music and effects) and the pot for the volume works, but I have to turn it up to full volume and also turn my speakers very high up to hear anything. At that high of a level I also here power hum and of course, I don't want to keep it up on high volumes to play.

Is it possible it is the HB-41? I have done a cap kit on the main PCB with no effect.

Anyway, yes, most likely your 'HB-41' is faulty, this custom is for music/sound FXs pre-amplification as well as mixer/filter.


P.S:
If you need an 'HB-41' reproduction they are available.Replacing the original part with a same one makes few sense because it will go bad sooner or later.

Caius, you don't happen to have a spare object rom board ready to convert for that?

I have 3 point blank boards, and really just would like to buy the parts needed to convert one of them, from somebody.
 
Cabal joystick version added (it mounts my joystick sub-board repro).Double Dragon and Fire Barrel conversion still available.
