Found four of these stools discarded on the curb sometime ago, and thought they’d have some promise to convert into candy cab stools as they have a nice little backrest and are structurally super durable.
When measuring, I found if I cut the stool with my cutoff tool just below the front foot rest, the height would measure right at 43cm which is at the target height for most CRT candy cabs. The back legs were also cut to match and I reused the end caps on the new cut ends.
The original stools had a pleather (imatation leather) that often breaks down over time. I decided to go with a suede style fabric that is soft, cleans easily and kind of self heals even when slightly punctured.
Reupholstering the stools by hand took quite a bit of time, but comfortable candy cab stools can be expensive, and since it’s something I’d enjoy using I thought it would be a worthy project.
