Capcom Fighting Collection 2: STREET FIGHTER ZERO 3 Upper -> sega naomi P O R T !!!

Not sure how difficult this would be to pull off, but if @HDemon successfully converts everything back it might be a good idea to make a script that can patch most of the data from these things automatically in the event Capcom decides to fix them further

Say for instance he does find the time to port the Ingrid version over. If Capcom finds a bug and updates it, he would technically have to go back, re-patch everything, release the bug-fixed version, etc. Now imagine 3 months later Capcom updates it again and repairs some of T.Hawk's wonky hotbox data; He'd have to re-do everything a third time, patch the game yet again, etc.

Can't imagine he'd want to convert everything manually each time they get updated (unless its super easy or something), so if it's possible to make a script that can do most of the heavy lifting for him, that might be the way to go

I've even taken a peek at the files myself and it seems simple enough, I just get lost at the concatenation side of things (e.g. why Fighting Jam references show up at the end of the Alpha 3 data)
 
Hi all! Sorry but still I have no time to get back to this project :( Thank you all for the comments and ideas. By the way I will explain the biggest issue I come across. The most important DATA(SFZ3U engine) that handles the game is hidden somewhere in .exe file and I don't know how to extract it :( Without this there's no way to finish this project. I will release all my notes and data I gathered later this year so maybe someone will figure things out and finish this. Having all new extra characters would be cool and I would port them if I would be able to but definitely I would love to have them in NAOMI version. Thank you!

Thanks for all you already made, with your datas I know maybe 2 people (with lot of knowlege on Dreamcast, naomi stuffs and devolepping in general) who can maybe extract datas from exe. I'm waiting for your notes and datas. Thanks again
 
Ah thats unfortunate. I can share the little bit I gathered from it in case anyone here feels like poking around:
  • Most of the data seems to be broken up across several small-ish files/directories, but said files were packed via their usual methods so once you extract them you'll be able to find character bios for "Eagle" and "Maki" via a hex editor.
  • The main executable appears to use Enigma Protector - similar to Resident Evil 5/6.
Despite this, I still have faith. Shawn goes into detail about the Marvel vs Capcom 2 aspect of it here.
 
Maybe switch version storeded data differently than pc version? Knowing switch version dont use exe maybe data should be easier to identify?
 
Shawn mentioned that one of the hurdles currently preventing MvC2 was how Capcom separated the audio for it, but injecting them back into a working Naomi port shouldn't be too trivial. The main priorities are getting the games running first. Been also wondering if making a RAM dump of the game while its running would lead to some clues, but I can't imagine them not masking that in some fashion too

...Surely :)
