Capcom ZN Conversion/Multi Interest Thread

Oddly enough, I was just thinking about this thread the other day.
 
Not sure if this is the correct place to ask, so apologies if it's in the wrong place!

I assume it's still not possible to burn new protection chips? I've got 2 Rival Schools boards but only 1 working protection chip (CP06 in this case). I'd quite like to get the other working so I can move on the second board.

Just getting one of the hacked G-nets disassembled or going in mame should provide a method for them all.

ZN2 has more ram so no on the upgrades.
The process for patching the CAT702 i have not looked at but there are bootlegs done by other people with all kinds of methods from code patches to a bootleg FPGA cat 702.
The romboards also have different GALS. I have a few that can be sent for dumping, it's do-able but time once again puts it low on everyone list.

G net loader - got it kinda running in mame, extracted and looked at it....
Cat 702 patching kinda understood.
ALL GALS SECURE BUT STILL NEED BANK02 CHIP FOR TGM (will anyone loan this to caius for 1 week :P )

I got a zn2 myself and 2 rom boards this weekend. Maybe we will see strider cracked in the near future.
 
It's on the top board, located at IC 6J.
Tetris is the only game with the bank02 chip, others use bank 00, 01, and 03 and we have access to those.

They are standard logic, and normally in socket so the "020" dumper should work.

Yo :thumbup: I have a twin from the rival school, he needs full Rom counseling for the test because I send him.I live in France, I am the closest to him I think, does he live well in Italy?

There's plenty of others to go first, hopefully the extra altera chip on the zn2 motherboard does not upset backwards compatibility.

The next test is ZN2 "setup" on ZN1 motherboard and also in reverse to see if they are interchangeable.
OBV. the ZN1 will need 1 extra ram adding MINIMUM in order to reach ZN2 specs.

Another thing for the conversions is getting a list of jumper settings together.
For now here is a list of the PAL's for each game.

MEMDEC Games use the newer rom board. CS0 Games use the 1st version rom board.
Newer rom board support upto 64meg chips same as those pesky (high end) neogeo games.
Older rom boards 32meg chips max.

Green = cracked + tested in hardware
Orange = cracked + not tested
Black = not cracked

I have: EX1, EX2, Toshinden, Rival schools.

So all that's needed is TGM for pal dump.
Jumper settings can be grabbed from pics online but it would be nice to get a list together to make things easy.
 
Yes I have a complete collection of Capcom ZN1 and ZN2 games...

Aside from the Jumpers what do you need?
