Hey there, Does anyone know of someone who can do repairs on the CBox MVS consoles. I live in the Tucson AZ area and have been having a hell of a time finding someone who can even look at it for me. Ive had it for a month now and it started giving me some graphical glitches.

There are lines through the unibios screen when I start a game. These lines are also there in the cross hatch screen when I start it up. from time to time there are weird pixelated areas in the games. most of the time its fine though. Want to figure this out before it gets worse.

Here are a few pics of how it looks. Mark of the Wolves is the game with all the messed up graphics. I also have Samurai Spirits 4 but i plays perfectly fine. Those lines in the Unibios screen are always there though. They are even in the cross hatch screen when I power it on with no game in.

Definitely looks like C ROM data line issue (see the previous link, about mid way down the page you'll see THIS example). I say this because the healthbars etc are OK and it's only the animated sprites showing problems.

Is this happening with all carts? Not finding a good example of anyone fixing this specific issue on a MV1C (which I assume you're system is using, but that might be in error). Which CBOX do you have?

It may be the cart itself, since the closest example I can find that matches what you show is this: https://retrostuff.org/2021/01/10/top-hunter-mvs-cartridge-repair/

I only have 2 games Mark of the Wolves and Samurai Showdown 4. Mark of the wolves is the one with all the glitches. Samurai Showdown works perfectly fine but has the glitched unibios screen before the game starts. I was thinking the cart may be the problem as well but maybe there is also something up with my unibios. The board model is MV1B by the way.

Can you share a picture of the MV1B board? Would be interested to see how it has UniBIOS installed. And is your Mark of the Wolves cart original?

Are the lines in the crosshatch screen when there's no game inserted?

I can get a pic tonight or tomorrow. If your interested ModsvilleUSA has a tear down of the exact same model I have.

Ah, one of those... @Neo-Alec and I have had some discourse one these, I personally dislike them due to the amount of modifications done. There are a lot of possible points of failure since they replaced the NEO-BUF, flattened out the MV1B board using flex cables and have a but of a wonky BIOS adapter.

The point of failure I would be most concerned about is the ribbon cables. Similar to what's shown here.

Because the MV1B has a fair number of chips on the smaller PCB, including ones responsible for aspects of the C ROM buffering, a bad trace between the two boards could cause both issues. Thinking specifically of the NEO-ZMC2.

But I could also be totally wrong. Kind of thinking you have two issues. One of which is with the specific cartridge and one of which is the C ROM address lines causing the vertical lines.

Edit: here a fairly recent thread showing the diagnostics of a similar issue on a stock MV1B board: https://www.neo-geo.com/forums/index.php?threads/mv-1b-vertical-lines-graphical-glitch.260446/
