Hi Folks,
I have had a centipede cabinet at work for a while, and its been very reliable. A few years ago I had to replace the big blue cap. This past week we had some power issues and even though the cabinet is plugged into a surge protector, something happened. Initially - just the video went out (but the game board was running), and then after I swapped another board, in the sense resistor burned out on the AR2.
So - what I did first was take this opportunity to drop in the Alan-1 AR2 replacement, so I had better access to ripple values and easier way to adjust the voltage... I made sure the ripple was low (.03) and the voltage was set to 5.1volts on the AR2. Then I plugged in my board, and the red light initially came on, but then it died, and the sense line dropped to 0 volts.
SOOOO - I really am not sure where to go from here. I have ordered a centipede-jamma adapter so I can test the boards on my bench at home - but I am afraid that maybe the power supply went bad, or something was fed to the centipede PCB that was out of range.
Anyone have a repair log they can link to me, or generally how to troubleshoot this methodically?
Thanks in advance!
Matt
