I finally got my 128MB retail mobo showing the chihiro logo and displaying an error 31 "this game can not be accepted by the main board"
I can enter the test menu. Most stuff there works exept the "mediaboard network settings" (It freezes when I choose that)
When I check the system info, it's not showing anything network board related either.
I do notice however that the mediaboard mbrom segaboot.xbe does something with the network board, as the leds on it change.

This brings me to my question. What are those 4 green led's supposed to do on a normal working chihiro?

Mine are On Off On Flashing (Left to Right with gdrom connector on the back)
Flashing is approx 1 second on, one second off.
I tried with another network adapter, and that is giving me the same results. I don't have another working mediaboard to test.
You can simply see the leds if you remove the top cover from the chihiro 3

Regards.

Awesome progress! Keep at it.

I won't be able to check today, but can get the info on the blinking for you tomorrow.

Note that it's the same network board for Triforce. I haven't messed much with the Dolphin Triforce branch, but could it possibly have any useful info on the board?

Thanks for the reply.

I started with studying xqemu, and finally switched to mame as it's chihiro emulation code was already a bit more mature. Mame however is emulating a model 1 chihiro with FPGA based netdimm. My real hardware is the chihiro 3 with an ASIC based netdimm.
The need to study another code base (that of dolphin triforce) is something I really would like to avoid. There is a 50% chanche it will also use the FPGA type emulation.

The network board behaves differently depending on whether or not it's connected to my router.

Not connected I get:
7 ON
8 OFF
9 ON
10 Blinking

I also get Error 34 Gateway cannot be found.

Connected and rebooted, I get:
7 ON
8 ON
9 ON
10 Blinking

While the system is booting, they're all ON.

My media board jumpers are set to Netboot and 512MB RAM. Not sure if behavior of board is different in GD-ROM mode.
