Hi all, so I just received a type 3 for testing something, and I keep getting error 26 when I boot up the board. After cross referencing, I deduced that it thinks the keychip is missing. I currently have a zerokey installed, so I'm not sure what's going on. I also tried testing it on a type 1 chihiro (with a netdimm) I have for sanity's sake, and the zerokey installed on the dimm board works fine, meanwhile when installed to the type 3 it just doesn't detect it. I'm not quite sure what else to try, so I'm open to suggestions.

What you trying to-do??

Zero key is generally for net boot only - Chihiro Type 3 will not be set for net booting, it will probably be in GD-ROM mode, so obviously it will Error 26, due to the DDR ram contents being invalid, and/or trying to boot a game which has a different 3 letter prefix and DES key.

You must enable network/net booting and then it should wait for an incoming transfer.

You must enable network/net booting

.. by moving jumper 9 to position 2-3 on the top/mediaboard:

yes, my jumper settings are in the picture. I will also note that I tried both the GD-ROM and Netboot positions, but both gave me error 26 still.

ok good.

zerokey type 1 and type 3. @rtw are they the same ? or is type 1 using the naomi key and type 3 the chihiro ?

Same key should work for both Naomi and Chihiro (regardless of Type):

That said, I would try a fresh key before anything else.

@Mrhide

Verified Compatibility:

CF and standard GD-ROM

NAOMI1, NAOMI2, Chihiro, Triforce

Net-Boot

NAOMI1, NAOMI2, Chihiro, Triforce

Note:

The Net-Boot version: ABC_BIN_0000000000000000_NET.bin works with Chihiro and Triforce in both CF,GD-ROM and Net-Boot mode.

You should also make sure the PIC contacts are clean and the making good contact with the board (you can also check for continuity with a multimeter.)

I had a issue like this once with a Triforce Type 3, it was displaying Error 26 with a legit PIC/Game. I had to clean the PIC contacts with IPA and make sure it was properly inserted all the way in.

I've checked with keychip a friend gifted me of outrun2, that's working fine on the type3. when switching it back to the zerokey though, still error 26. However, I tried using the zerokey again on my type1, and the zerokey there works perfectly fine. I also tried using a CF-BOX update disc to update the type3's firmware to the latest versions for each of the different boards, but that didn't seem to fix error 26. Genuinely baffled at this.

At least I know the keychip daughterboard is working fine, but I don't really know what else to try
