Hey guys

So I recently purchased a 256, but it won't come with anything other than the unit and drive.

I'm looking to connect this to my Blast City which is currently wired to Jamma only and is looking to purchase all the additional auxiliary parts to get it running. From my understanding I'll need:

An IO Board
Kick Harness

I was looking at tops and the Namco IO board looks reasonable in terms of cost(not sure about kick harness, but it seems that the Capcom IO looks to be the better solution since uses CPS2 kick connectors(which my blast currently has).

Also have concerns about power too. Would the JVS/Jamma IO boards handle the required power?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Powering a System 256 seems pretty straight forward. Just need the pinout and the proper connectors. All can be found here: https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Namco_system_256#Connectors

As for JVS I/O, if you don't already have one, I would suggest the Sega I/O as it is the most readily available and most inexpensive. Though, I don't know if it works with the System 256. Maybe another member can confirm. Don't know why it shouldn't however. As for the kick harness, these things are easily solved for with the proper connectors provided you have a proper crimper and connectors and are willing to put in the sweat. Shouldn't be too difficult.

I'll check if the unit comes with the power cable, but thanks.

Might make an order with tops tonight. They seem reasonable in pricing with the io boards compared to what people ate charging on ebay lol
