Converting System C into System C2

Well that's nice, it even has a complete component list. 😅

Yeah I definitely started from scratch, but it was a lot of fun going through that process.

Ah ah. My vision of things is there are unfortunately too few people with technical expertise in the hobby and I feel it's a pity time is "wasted" in redoing the same things again when it could be spent on new things.

For instance I'm hoping for a full Konami sound module reproduction but people just seem to like copying each others design with today 6 different uncomplete repros.

Sorry to Necropost this, but has anyone seen this board pre-modded before? It's like 90% of the C2 conversion blog completed from the looks of it, but It also looks factory cause of the custom populated IC 315-5296. Intention was to do a C2 multi on it, but jumper config doesn't match this board, so I'm at a loss at the moment.

@raynex : It is a mod, but not by factory. The 315-5296 is original in both System-C and System-C2, in my case I had to replace it because mine was malfunctioning.

I believe I can see a small cut separating the reset line for the YM3438 right next to the green wire soldered, this board should function correctly if everything else was done correctly as well. I personally don't like the blue slot, but at the end of the day it is about playing the games. :D

I will add that I never tested a multi on a converted System C to C2, so if you want to be safe, a System C2 will not let you down. I do have a C2 with a multi, so I may test it on a converted C->C2 and I can report later. Can't guarantee this weekend because I'm out on vacation, though returning home on late Saturday.

Thanks for the reply. So, I've spent much of the day trying to see what I need to do the full conversion and it looks like I just need the larger ROM, move the R31 to R30, change some jumpers, and add the second bodge on the back. You think that about covers what needs to be done?

Yeah, you may actually get away with just R30 to R31, and no need to touch the reset lines. The one bodge wire may be enough.

I can test that. I ordered the memory and will get the board prepped while holding off on the second bodge. Appreciate it.

Just wanted to update you that I did get the memory, installed it, tested it with the multi and couldn't get it to work. I figured it might have something to do with not burning the 322's correctly cause the way the files pull up in Xgecu and GQ's software are different. GQ's seems to be byte swapped and defaults to 8-bit mode. So, I'm not 100% sure I am burning these right. Regardless, I took everything off and put columns back in, reset the jumpers to the original except J7 to keep the expanded memory and columns boots fine.
With that said, did you get a chance to test your multi in your converted C board?
