What's new

FOUND Cosam the great bare Neptune genesis 32x board.

Turns out I was wrong earlier - I did actually pay him for one of these, $102 back in January. I didn't remember since I've been going through a lot over the last 6 months, and a bunch of stuff fell off my radar.

Rewrite/Ryan has been MIA for 3 months. :/ Second time he's done this lately. I hope he's okay, sincerely, but it is not a good look to keep disappearing while you're holding onto a bunch of people's money.

cc @Darksoft - would you or anyone in your circle have a good way to reach out to Rewrite?

Bump once again, flagging this for @Darksoft & @Mitsurugi-w.

@ForestOfDreams and I (and probably whoever else paid and didn't get their board) are still left holding the bag after rewrite disappeared again. I sincerely hope he is okay, but taking people's money and disappearing is becoming a pattern. Not great. It's been several months and multiple attempts at contact have been made without response. I tried reaching out to him through mutual contacts and I also tried emailing him directly, no response going on 2 months. If something's up and he needs time, I understand, but he's gotta communicate that to people.

At what point do we decide we will no longer accommodate such behavior here?

There are some limits for sure. Everyone can have bumps in life and many nasty things can happen. I agree that first you need to close whatever deal you had open or refund and move on. Unless it's something that completely changes your life and stilll a refund should be in place I believe.

My personal code of conduct is never throw in for a deal you can't honor, and negotiate the margin up front, try to make it a fair win win.

Some people do business differently, things happen, but this deal was such small potatoes I am a bit confused why no communication is happening.
Fair negotiating & communication when things go south is important too imho.

I ended up buying a bare board, which eventually will get populated, but this whole thing killed the motivation I had going.

Don't let that happen. Go finish your project! And then show it here. We want to see it.

Some motivation maybe. This is the one I built from the blank PCB. Those passives are time killers but therapeutic if you're just doing it little by little. Of course I misread one of the values and caused an issue, but eventually found it and put the correct value to fix my problems. The bodge wire you see was 3 weeks of hunting by a group of us. That's why you now see a rev 1.4 and 1.5...lol. Anyways, this was a fun and accomplishing build. Works great.

Same here. For me, the delay in getting what we paid for, and life changes just led me to move on from the project. Blessing in disguise I guess, but losing $100 when you're on a fixed income isn't great.

Hope you can get around to it. If you just want it to use it and are too lazy to do it (like me ;)), could try mailing it off to the person 9999damage sent theirs too. Seemed like a fair price!

but are there any good 32x games though?
Doom Resurrection, Knuckles Chaotix once you get used to the slingshot controls, I love Afterburner, Tempo is enjoyable, Virtua Fighter is well done, and MK2 is pretty decent on here. There's a romhack to make MK2 better but I haven't tried it. If you have my setup, you can play the 32x CD games as well, so I can add Surgical Strike to the list. That was better than I thought it would be, even for a rail game. Obviously, this is my personal list and many have their own opinions about the 32x. lol. It's just fun to have it all-in-one with only 1 PSU (no triple breakout cables) and 1 video cable output. Oh, you can also play SMS games if you have a specific SMS adapter or Mega ED Pro (Mega SD is not compatible without a FW update from TO...not happening anytime soon).

The only game that I liked a littlebit (or waned to like) was Knuckles Chaotix but again never played it too much. Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure was the 32x title for me but it doesnt have redbook audio and runs at much lower framerate. Sega CD version has redbook but looks terrible. I built a win95 machine (many years ago) just to play this game. All the ports of this game are terrible.

Sonic Robo Blast 2 running within Doom Resurrection has to be my favorite 32X project at the moment.
