CPS 1 - Pang 3 with sound issue

Hi folks,

I have had the board for a while. I took it out this morning to play.
The game as such works, only the music sounds very distorted, although the voice and effects samples are fine.
Attached is a short audio snippet.
I have already removed and reinstalled all the socketed chips and did a ram test. the problem with the sound persists.
Do any of you have any tips on how to fix this?

Were you able to find the cause?

I have the same problem with my Knights of the Round board. Sound effects are clean but the BGM is distorted.
In my case the issue is the A-board. When using an A-board from another fully working game with the Knights of the Round B+C-boards then BGM is fine.
So it must be some part of the sound section of the A-board which is involved in BGM playback.
