CPS3 memory error

... Is that a sign of the cart's suicide battery giving up the ghost? Or worse problems? I have a line on a setup that's giving that error for a pretty decent price, and being that I'm looking to convert it anyway a dead cart isn't a huge worry.

Depends on the error. The number that is included with the error tells you what simm is bad. If the onboard memory itself is bad you can verfify it with a SuperBIOS cart.

I had a hard time installing 3rd stirke version A on my Sh2 Setup the last day. Always froze on 60% up to 4 times in a row.
Switched positions of all the simms, twice, and it finally loaded.
What could be the issue there?
