CPS3 SIMM related question

Folks,
1-Whats the difference between these two CPS3 SIMMS ?
2-Plus one of my boards is missing this white plastic thing and a chip next to it, is it normal ?

Answers:

1) no functional difference-the storage capacity of those two SIMMs is the same. The flash chips are just mounted in different spots.

2) the late revision CPS3 boards omitted the SRAM and battery that was located inside the plastic white capsule. Those components were only used during development to patch the games and were never used for any of the games released to the public. It’s actually good your board doesn’t have them since the battery inside the capsule can pop and cause damage.
