CPS3 using Darksoft cart

Hello all,

I got a cart from Darksoft and was testing it in my CPS3 board
I am using no simms right now but the video on the screen does not seem right
It seems to be missing #1, #6 and #7 and the colors seem wrong
I can move up and down on the regions but I cannot see 1, 6, and 7

Any ideas what could be wrong with it?

You need to have SIMMs plugged into your motherboard for the cart to function correctly I believe.
 
@djsheep I hope it is that simple :)
I do not have simms yet so I will have to wait to fully test it

You need to have SIMMs, then load a game from CD or SCSI2SD to even be able to access the game selection or make any sense of it. The fact you’ve gotten that far with no SIMMs is impressive, yet doesn’t make sense. What game would you be selecting the region for when none exist :)
 
I was quite worried when I saw this :)
I was hoping someone who had just plugged in the cart and no simms could confirm this is what they get
 
How is the game booting to region select without SIMMS - that means you’re getting past the CD check and boot sequence

Those options aren’t missing. You’re missing colours on the screen, looks like you’re missing red for sure and maybe blue?
 
@xodaraP I speculate the missing colors are due to the fact he managed to get that far with just a cart :). I reckon wait until he has SIMMs before diagnosing it further…

What on the board would cause the missing colors?
 
The issue is that you’re using a NoCD cart without any SIMMs on board, therefore you should expect glitches.

The fact the region selection menu comes up itself is surprising TBH.

Are you expecting SIMMs anytime soon?

I definitely wouldn’t go probing or troubleshooting any possible issues with the board and just let it sit until you have all the parts ready.
