Hello Guys,
Reading on the net seems like someone integrated all the game audio from NeoGeoCD ver into the version made by Razoola for free for everyone.

https://www.neo-geo.com/forums/index.php?threads/crossed-swords-2-aes-mvs-and-rom-thread.241894/

And it seems that the user who made this adaptation never released the rom for everyone but preferred to sell the game . ?(
(for agreements made with the final producer)

I hope someone delivered some of the profits to Razoola for making the rom initially. :saint:
Beyond my consideration since anyone can decide whether to contribute to the MVS scene or simply monetize.
Did I understand correctly, the rom has never been released? Did I miss something?

This version has a sound driver that was completely rebuilt with NGFX SoundBuilder. Thus there are many sound effects in the game that were originally stereo that are now re-recorded in mono. Also, the bitrate and some of the loops are not great.

In my opinion, the tradeoffs don't really make this version worthwhile. The search for the original cartridge version, or at least one hacked to use the original sound code with rebuilt samples, continues.

I'm thinking of getting to work on this project, since we now have an adapter for the 4Mb v roms it is conceivable to use all the space of the progbk1.
If the job consists of redoing the audio driver with NGFX SoundBuilder, extracting the audio from the neogeo cd version and re-encoding it... if I'm not losing pieces I could do it.
But I'm not expert in hacking roms so I'm not sure.
I'm not able to patch, found address in hex and stuff like that.

I previously tried to redo the Magician Lord audio driver, to make it compatible with PCM cards, but I realized that the NGFX SoundBuilder addresses and those of the game do not match.

Something i miss here, becouse NGFX Tool follow this address:
Where $20 - FF is free for user use, but on magician lord is starting on previus addresses.

Well, elrayzeur already did it, so I don't see much point.

I would like to see a hack that keeps the existing MML code that's in the game's Z80 driver, and re-addressing it so it can use samples from maybe World Heroes Perfect. The end result wouldn't be the same as the original intended cartridge sound for the game, but closer. With enough skill, anything is possible.

From just goofing around with it, I made a very dirty hack that did at least confirm that some melodies from CS2 are indeed in the Z80 code. Razoola said as much when he was working on his conversion.

What I'm really hoping for is that some day we see an ACA release of the original cartridge version, similar to what we saw on the Wii with Ironclad. Unfortunately I doubt anyone still has a copy.

The point is that elrayzeur's work makes no sense to me since only those who bought it enjoy it. So for many it simply doesn't exist, how much memory did you use for the v roms by compressing the simples? 16Mb? maybe it is possible to do less compressed work.

A lot of NeoGeo games use "banks" for samples. The builder tool allows for this. What you see for this is usually a byte from 0x18-0x1f then followed by a byte that is >= 0x20 that plays from an alternative track list.
For the sound builder, it's annoying because it will always apply whatever the last bank you selected, so if you send bank 1 command then a sound and then another sound, the second sound should really default bank to bank 0, but it will play from bank 1.

Very cool! I've been wanting to do something like this with Zintrick.

If you're talking about redoing all of his work, I think getting the money to buy a cart is a lot easier.

I also think you should reply to the topic on neogeo-system and mention your support for the rom release, as I have done in the past. It seems like he's practically forgotten about it at this point.

As explained on the French forums, the rom will be realese after AES production. I do my hacks to please, the prices for the full MVS kit were low, it will be the same for the AES version +-300€ delivered in Europe. When the AES version is released, I will release the rom for everyone, no worries. I've had a lot of problems over the last 2 years, health and other, but I'm coming back online and resuming my projects, my health is better.
