Hello all!!!

I copied part of this here, as a new post so as not to complicate a current thread!

Currently, I have a Pentranic chassis model CH-288 15/25k that I can only get very little response from to adjust the Horizontal width. Checked the board over several times now and even the inductor coil has very little effect on width. Thought it might be the tube, as it had serious burn in and was just about dead anyway, so I replaced it. Replacement tube colors a fantastic, but the horizontal issue remains. Not the CRT, but it was needed anyway.

I am seriously thinking about a Wei-Ya eBay chassis for $100. I'd probably have that cost sunk in a 30-year-old chassis with a few parts and the shipping. I just hate disposing of things that I love the challenge of repairing. But this one...has got me.

The game is Cruis'n USA and I bought it not working. Its issue was cracked solder joints along the entire power supply header. repaired that and it fired right up!!! Then, I noticed the horrible CRT. The burn in was BAD and the colors were washed out. The CRT is/was original with the cabinet, as it still had the Williams serial number stickers on it. I am assuming it was a WGK7000. Somewhere in its life the chassis was changed to the Pentranic. so, I may be just chasing my tail here and it may not even be compatible. I am NOT a chassis expert!!!!

The WG CRT had 1.5 Ohms and 6.8 Ohms on the yoke and was a Sanyo yoke. So, I found a great Sanyo 25" TV and swapped the tube and saved it from the recycler!!!! Its readings were 1.3 Ohms and 8 Ohms. I figured close enough and yes, the picture was great except for the same width issue the old CRT had. Perhaps I am best to find a good and working WG Chassis??? I keep leaning toward the Wei-Ya ones on eBay, however I have NO experience with them.

I am hoping one of the experts here will set me on the correct path!

PS... That would be anyone, since I am a NOT an expert!!!! :D

Cheers,
Neal
