[This item has now been sold]

I am selling my original CAVE Akai Katana Limited Version (AKLV) kit.

This is one of rarest CAVE kits. When sold it was only offered from CAVE's web-shop for a limited time. Supposedly less than 30 kits were made.

It contains two unique gameplay modes—White and Red—that feature significant mechanical
tweaks over the original arcade game. None of these modes have ever been ported

Detailed photos available via PM to show the excellent condition. Serious buyers only!

Bank transfer is the only accepted payment method. Money is to be paid in NOK.

The buyer can pay in installments, but a non-refundable initial deposit is required.

Item will be shipped once the final installment is received.

This is a high-value item intended for serious collectors.

The price is: 250000 NOK, roughly 26K USD.

Shipping is extra. Options and insurance to be discussed and covered by the buyer to ensure total peace of mind.

Here is a video showing the Red mode gameplay:

Daaaaaamn, I remember seeing someone put up an insane bounty for this back in the day. Looks like today’s selling price follows suit. Not throwing shade at your sales thread, just exclaiming on the rarity and price. GLWTS and to whatever deep pocketed CAVE aficionado cops it.

Would @rtw be so nice as to dump it?
I'm sure it would still sell.
Maybe a guarantee of price difference put up if it falls in value?

Hello, this was the famous buyer back then, but I've moved on now.

It's wonderful to see this for sale, even though it seems to me that the game modes are included in the EXA-Arcadia version by pressing up on the joystick when selecting a character.

Congratulations on this, and I hope to be able to buy a W5050 conversion kit someday :)

If you press up on the EXA-Arcadia version you are selecting the Kiwami difficulty mode which is called Extreme in English. This mode is essentially a loop 2 arrange.

This is not the same -RED- or -WHITE- mode from AKLV.

I have been asked for an overview picture of the kit, I will provide one tomorrow and update the first post.

As for dumping it, the new owner will get to decide what to do with their new game.
Technically it's still yours for now, so you can decide to dump it and share the roms then ;)

The dump wouldn't impair the sale, since the target audience is not the same.

FWIW, there are no differences in the sound files for this game to the regular version, so if you wanted to dump it, you could simply do so over JTAG without the need to remove chips off the board.
Please elaborate, if you would. I’m intrigued.

Not OP, but there is a JTAG port on CV1000 PCBs that gives read and write access to the U2, U4, and EEPROM. Speed is extremely slow, though. This documentation from buffis claims 3 days for a U2 read. And like djsheep alluded to, you don't get access to the sound chips (which wouldn't be needed in this case).
