My cabinets tend to be used as very general-purpose units, so they might see a real PCB, a MiSTer, a PC, or a console installed. Normally this isn't a problem, but the Namco JAMMA adaptor his a neat trick up its sleeve: it'll fry your stuff.

I use a JAMMA finger board with two DB-15 connectors to interface with consoles installed on the system. The chain of devices is: Cyber Lead -> Namco JAMMA adaptor -> JAMMA connector -> DB-15 -> Dreamcast controller -> Dreamcast. The Dreamcast has a VGA box attached, with a 15kHz RGB switch.

I couldn't get it to work, the monitor refused to display a signal. But when the Dreamcast was OFF, the VGA box light was ON. And my 4x VMU no longer worked.

Seems like the Namco JAMMA adaptor sends a LOT of 5V down the chain, enough to power the VGA box LED and fry the VMU. The New Astro and Naomi Universal (with Sega VJS/JAMMA) don't do this.

Pretty happy it didn't take out the rest of the Dreamcast or the GDEMU with it, but I had a lot of games on that 4x. =/
