Darksoft menu via SuperGun?

Trying to fire up my CPS3, but want to change games. For some reason I’m having a hard time getting to the dark soft menu. Hitting 1P start takes me to the region menu where it boots the last loaded game. Probably missing something simple, but it’s early and I’m stumped.

Got it to work eventually. No idea what I did different. Ah well.
