So I love to work on CRT tv sets and broken gaming consoles, it gives me joy to resurrect something. I was thinking about modding a spare Famicom board for composite output, pairing it with All Night Nippon (a Tokyo variant of SMB). Pairing it with a 19" NOS consumer CRT and board.

I'd have to figure out just how to connect the new controls to it but its been done by others so I am not worried about that.

I had been debating using one of several vintage computers, TI-99/4, Atari 400, Sinclair ZX-81 or an Opentendo that I'd built. Though I think I'd get the most joy from a modded Famicom.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The Heart of what Machine? An a Arcade Cab? Why would you want to Play SMB on an Cab? If you said Gun-nac or Recca i would get it but SMB isn't really best paired with Stick and Buttons (I'm aware of the Nintendo Nes Cab's but they're stupid 😛). Also wouldn't you need to feed RGB to an Arcade Chassis?

In all honesty I'm not sure if i thought too much about your post or you to little 🤔
