Following Mrhide’s kind invitation, here are some photographs and references from my Nanao MS-3620-S.
This monitor is fitted to my Sega Virtua Racing Deluxe under Sega part number 200-5240. The original tube is a Mitsubishi W86KTTZ211X.
After comparing my boards with the MS8-33 photographs in this thread, several clear family relationships appear.
1 — Power Board
The general layout is extremely close. Both boards also use transformers carrying the following references:
- 5F13517A1
- 5F13516A1
- 5F16518A1
2 — Deflection Board
- MS-3620-S: PCB-DEF 05A00515D1 / 5T00960
- MS8-33: PCB-DEF 05A00515E1 / 5T00960
The PCB family and secondary reference are therefore shared, with a different revision suffix.
3 — High-voltage assembly
- MS-3620-S: PCB-HV 05A00514D1
- MS8-33: PCB-HV 05A00514E1 / 05T00959
The flyback enclosure, external heatsink and daughterboard arrangement also appear very similar.
4 — Video daughterboard
Both video boards use a Mitsubishi M51387P and have a very similar component and RGB-output layout.
5 — Control board
- MS-3620-S: PCB-CONT 05B00752B1 / 05U02057
- MS8-33: PCB-CONT 05B00752C1 / 05U02056
These references and layouts strongly suggest that the MS-3620-S and MS8-33 were developed from a common Nanao electronic platform, with model-specific revisions or adaptations.
I am not assuming that the boards are electrically interchangeable. Voltages, component values, tube and yoke requirements may differ, so this is a documentary comparison only.
Thank you again for documenting the MS8-33. This is the first genuinely significant technical lead I have found for the MS-3620-S in more than ten years of searching.
