Double Dragon One rom release (+Bad Dudes & In The Hunt demos)

Hey dude

Thanks for the detailed info, seems to match previous reports we got (although that purple bar is new and could be flat screen related).
This occurs on original PCBs ; game otherwise works fine on flashcart / aftermarket / emulation devices.

cheers :thumbup:
Can i ask you if is planned a fix or is not in scope ?
Thanks

Thanks for your hard work and for sharing!
It would be great if you could optimize the ROMs to fit in a progbk1 in 2MB banks for audio, so people can make their own copies on hardware.
Otherwise those who don't have the multicart will end up buying it on aliexpress.
I know it's hard work though, so thanks again for sharing it for free.
Would you mind elaborating on this, please? I'm pretty new to the NG scene/market/etc so I really don't know what you're talking about and I'd love to 😁

To be honest this is very low in our priorities, we have moved on to other projects.
I'm curious: does the game still show "Beta version"? If so, why?
Thanks in advance.

I'll try to summarize it, at moment the biggest audio audio memory that you can use on original MVS or AES board with modification is 2MB on 1 slot for a maxinum of 4 slots. So if you love to put a game on original hardware you have space for 8MB. Whell the problem start when this game is using 16MB of audio so you its hard to use on real hardware and need some modification.

Ok I think I understand.
So, if not for that circumstance/reason, you would be able to create your own "repro" for this game? 🤔

Yes, but then I realized that the game doesn't work on real hardware.
It's still in beta and needs some fixes.
But it's possible to play on Mame or MV1C with a flashcart.

The rom available for download still displays BETA version despite it being final because the only benefit of removing it would be to allow people who have been making and selling unapproved copies of the game to offer something that looks more finished or official.
Put short, anyone who just wants to play the game can do so and we're happy to help them ; we are much less eager to help those who've been selling it since it was an early demo.

You know I appreciate your work and thank you, but like me, many people want to play on real hardware, and not everyone has an MV1C.
The most used and most consolized board is the MV1FS/Z.
Many have an MV2 or Slot 4, for those who are lucky.
The game will most likely work on the 1C or 1B, which are the closest hardware options, but everyone else has to play on mame.
This is the summary; you're free to do as you see fit.
Sellers are on Aliexpress, here you can talk to technicians and developers who can help you better understand technical issues.
On the monetary side, with a finished product and a fixed price, people would probably be encouraged to buy it, as happened with Knight Chance and other games.

Thanks for your time.

Understood. Thank you.

I'm not sure I follow. I have a consolized MVS (I don't remember which particular model). Is it possible that a repro (maybe an Aliexpress one) won't work on it? 🤔

It's confirmed to not work properly on all these 1-slot boards?

It is interesting to me that the hardware has an impact on games. Developers had to/have to account for little differences in hardware for a game to fully work as an MVS release?

I tested it on:
MV1FS= green screen
MV1B= working
MV1C= working
MV2FS= green screen
Error is from Level 3 not before
So I assume if I asked one of these Aliexpress sellers they would answer as if everything works ok and/or they don't know what I'm talking about? xD

On Aliexpress they just sell, they also sell a unworking copy of pre-pcm cart like Magician lord with missing audio, so.... :-D please dont buy shit.

Yeah, something odd going on here. Usually this level of testing isn't necessary. The Neo Geo hardware performs identically across models. Testing different models usually comes more down to AES vs MVS and the way multislot boards behave. I'm going to test the game on some of my systems.

Tested beta 3-2 with the NeoSD Pro on my 4-slot MV4F. I had free play enabled. I encountered no issues. No color problems.

What are you using to connect the MV1C to the flat screen? The MV1C has less horizontal resolution than the other models -- It's missing 3 columns on the right side of the screen, just like the Neo Geo CD.
