F3 connectors

SI is not the spinner input, it is a serial interface for the audio cpu, probably used during development to connect a MIDI device:

for a spinner, you have to connect to the left and right joystick inputs on the jamma connector.

the Z connector is for logging stuff like which game modes and characters get chosen, what levels people are getting game overs at, whether they continue, how many points they're getting, etc.

Yeah I knew about the correct way to install the spinner but also since we saw this posting my buddy wanted to give it a try the incorrect way and then we learned that its definately not for spinners haha

Wow this page is incredibly well presented. Im actually working on a F3 freeplay patch for Arkanoid Returns but we will see if I can actually learn enough to finish it. So far about half way done since I found the main address's and can influence them in mame.
