What's new

Fighter's History, building my very first arcade machine from a mess to start from.

could I buy like some other arcade games and plug them into the jamma to play without having to tear the wireing apart?
100%, that's actually what most of the people here on this forum do. Myself, I have only a few cabinets but a few hundred game PCB that I can swap in to play.

A lot of us use "candy cabs" which are generic Japanese arcade cabinets usually made out of metal and plastic suited for easily swapping out the games. You can see what these look like here: https://www.hard--candy.com/wiki/candy-cabinets

The only bit of wiring that might need to be adapted when swapping games is the "kick harness" this is the small connector separate from the main JAMMA harness that us used for buttons 4 5 and 6 for both players. (called a kick harness because it's usually used for the kick buttons on fighting games).

JAMMA games that only use 3 buttons or less can be plugged in and the kick harness left disconnected. There is no official standard for the kick harness so it can vary from game to game bud I'd say 90% of games that use 5 or 6 buttons will either use a "CPS1" style kick connector (which is what I believe Fighters History uses), or a "CPS2" style kick connector.

I really have to say you guys have a great community here. I really appreciate all the help and to see how everyone engages and sounds like you guys really care about the hobby for what it's worth. The only other forum that I ever tried to get into was XDA developers when I first go into coding for android and all the just hatefulness really almost turned me off of the whole thing. Just again thank all of you for the help.

Just give it time, give it time... LOL

J/K, we have our curmudgeons here (maybe me even!), but overall, this is a great forum. Where in the US are you? If close to me, I'd be really happy to swing by and help and bring some extra games for you to try and borrow.
