Anyone got any pointers for restoring this thing? I got it for a great deal and will probably be dismantling it and having it powercoated by a local auto body shop. Anything else ya'll think I should know? So far I have only restored & worked on wooden American style cabs, so this is all new to me. Thank you in advance for any tips!

I am so psyched. The monitor plays perfectly it feels fantastic to play on.

Anyone got tips on where to buy replacement side art?

One recommendation as someone who owns one of these, definitely recommend doing a cap kit on the chassis just to be proactive (unless you know it's been done recently).

Would also recommend grabbing some MATE N LOK connectors and pins in case you need to replace any connectors.

Also highly recommend adding a 3 prong plug with ground; ungrounded if you have these on the same circuit as a inductive load (vacuum cleaner, fridge, AC, or anything with a AC motor) you can get a mild electric shock.

Beyond that, some nice upgrades are to add casters to the bottom of the cab as the back wheels are very high up so it's tough to move around without tipping it back a large amount, and to replace the speakers.

These cabs are awesome and super simple, not to mention absolute tanks. They look classically 80s with the straight edges, and being made of sheet steel can take a beating. Congrats on your purchase and I hope you enjoy it! The MS8-26s make 15khz games look great. I use mine as a dedicated SHMUP cab.

Congrats! Aero cabs are great candidates for restoration. There are a few great rest threads on these boards. Good luck, and post progress photos!

Barry does an amazing work!

Recap both the MS8-26 and PSU, these are old cabs. With some cleaning and paint you should be good to go! It's a great cab!
I will be ordering from Barry next week, I am just waiting for an item to come back in stock with him.

Also I already ordered a new cp from Alberto on monday. This is my first time working with him, but everyone seems to rave about his work, so I can’t wait for it to arrive.

I was very fortunate about the monitor / chassis as the set up was recently recapped and serviced in the spring. Even in outdoor settings the monitor is bright and vibrant.

Speaking of paint. I am getting powder coated soon. For the more original stock look I am guessing I go for gloss? The other option was matte, but wanted to double check with some folks that knew a bit more about them.

Yup, it's very glossy. Definitely don't use matte finish.
