Friend having issues with SEGA Ringedge

Someone I know is having issues with his ringedge 1 for transformers, I believe hes using a bootleg version of the game as there is a USB rather then a proper keychip, issues seemed to arise after CMOS replacement. Here is the error he is getting from his post on reddit:

First issue found: He is attempting to run the game on a ringedge 1 (both transformers games are ringedge 2), supposedly his old ringedge 2 stopped working after a cmos died, still similar issue, im going to try and get photos and more info
