Hey guys,

I was bored the other day and wanted to see if I could get the gbsc to downscale 24khz as well as the 15khz it currently does.

I have a gbsc mrAo from AliExpress.

I also want to state I know nothing about programming etc.

I asked Claude to research and let me know if it was possible to add a 24khz mode to the existing hardware/ firmware.

I also told him/her/ it that my UVC does a very nice job and to use the settings from that as our starting baseline, which as soon as they dropped that info into the code, had a great picture.

So after about 12 hours going back and forth, I have all the Oled menus programmed, the wifi menu working and a stable sync / picture at 24khz.

I just need to get the picture to the right size now, but Claude is stuck and seems to be guessing rather than just doing like it was.

The picture is looking good and nice and clear on my Ms9-29 but it is too tall, width looks ok.

Anyone know where to look now?

Cheers

It would be really nice if cheaper scalers like OSSC or GBS-C could do 24khz downscale as UVC (as rare and expensive it is) is only limted to RGBHV input signal where as OSSC and GBS-C can take YpbPr signal useful for consoles like OG XBOX, Wii and PS2 (to some extent)

You can use a transcoder from component to vga to hook up those consoles to the UVC. Beharbros has a good one called the Garo Lite.

Makes perfect sense, but it’s just too many equipments in the process.
One extra dedicated device isn’t so bad for getting the best looking medium res output out of the UVC.

But I agree, a new dedicated low-cost downscaler would be great since it’s harder to find an affordable UVC these days.
Something dedicated for this purpose rather than using upscalers with bare minimum downscaling support.

I’m close with the gsbc, this is Sega marine fishing on a naomi running at 31hz downscaled to 24khz with the gsbc. Just the image is stretched vertically the screen size is correct on the monitor, but the amount of pixels is too tall for the display area displayed

So once I nail that, it should be good!.

Wow nice work !

So does his mean you can use like a Naomi on say an NFL Blitz machine using the GBS-C? (24 khz monitor )

If so can you also UP scale a 15 kHz game to 24?
