Grand Master
I have a Golden Axe (US Set 5) on the way.
The seller says it is working, which is great. I plan to try to replace the battery. I've read several guides, and have ordered supplies.
What has me concerned, and posting about de-suicide is this:
In the images of the PCB, I see white coming up from under the lid of FD1094 (on the right side). This leads me to believe the battery is already leaking.
My plan is to try and clean it up and replace the battery. But what if it is too far gone? or when trying to clean it up, one of the wires comes apart?
I understand I will have to replace the FD1094 with a regular 68000 CPU and replace some of ROMs.
From what I've read, fortunately, SEGA was nice enough to socket the CPU for us.
The question I have is regarding the ROMs. I have read varying accounts of whether unencrpyted ROMs exist for this set, and I've not found them in my searches.
segaresurrection.com sells a kit, but I'd like to do this on my own.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
