What's wrong with it? There's nothing inside the booster that can't be serviced.
I had to pull apart one of mine a few weeks ago:
The welds on the metal shaft tore. Nearby car shop put new welds on it. Reassembled it, greased all the joints, replaced some of the microswitches. Good as new.

We definitely could be doing more intensive work on it, but at the end of the day, it'd be nice to have a new one, and I have someone willing to pay for it as well, so it's win-win if we can find one. Ours has just been welded too many times and doesn't sit flush anymore, causing the ring around the booster to shift off and catch.
It's just a funny shaped joystick.
That's what happened to mine as well, the ring shifting off and catching. It was because the crown on the top was separated on two sides from the shaft (see pic above). Welding it back in place fixed that problem.
But I guess you already knew that, if yours has been welded before.
