Yes, it's normal. It's stuck on with double sided adhesive tape. I used a hot air gun to remove mine. But be very careful, you can melt or warp the plastic with the hot air.

Pour 99% isopropyl (you’ll need to buy from Amazon) over the area or use goo gone to remove it. Now for the yellowing, I would get a couple gal. 12% liquid peroxide (from Amazon) and a clear plastic bin from target with 2 40-60 watt uv lights from Amazon. I would rotate the plastic every 8 hours for 48 hours and it should remove all the yellowing: here is an example -
